Appointments

Initial Appointment - Price: $120*

Please use this appointment if it is your first time visiting the clinic. You will need to complete a health history form at your first appointment. We will also ask you questions about your current complaint and history. We will do a thorough assessment in the initial appointment so we can fully understand what is causing your complaint and then come up with a treatment plan to get the best results. You will always receive treatment in your initial appointment.

Standard Appointment - Price: $120*

Initial and standard appointments are both 60 minute appointments and are listed differently for admin purposes only. Standard appointments are used for most follow up appointments. We may still do some assessments to see how you are progressing but it will not be as thorough as the initial appointment. There will normally be more treatment time in a standard appointment.

Short Appointment - Price $60*

A 30 minute appointment for a quick check in and short treatment. Short appointments are used if there is only one area of complaint. (eg. just my left shoulder)

*private health fund rebates available

What to expect:

Every person is different so there is no one size fits all approach, however, we try to follow the same process with all our clients to ensure consistent outcomes. We will always work with you to get the best possible outcomes.

Assessment – The location of the pain is not always the cause of the pain. Sometimes we will do a full body assessment to get an overall picture of how your body is moving and then we will get more specific to the source of your pain. Assessments may include gait analysis (watching you walk), movement analysis and postural analysis. The assessment process is important to ensure that we come up with an effective treatment plan.

What to wear – tight fitting sports clothes are the best, shorts and singlets in particular. We need to see how your body is moving and how your muscles are working so the less clothes the better, however, your comfort is always our first priority.

Treatment – Treatment may include soft tissue massage, dry needling, mobilisation of joints and myofascial cupping. Treatment directly to the skin is the most effective so you may be required to remove more clothing for your treatment. Towels will be provided for adequate draping and only the area that needs working on needs to be exposed, again, your comfort is our first priority.

If required strapping and kinesiology taping may also be used.

Exercises – Exercise is the key to ongoing improvement. Exercises will make up part of your in clinic treatment so we can make sure your technique is correct and that you are not causing yourself any pain. Being disciplined with your exercises at home will give you the best possible outcome.

How can treatment help your performance? Even if you are pain free and moving well it is possible that you still have asymmetries, dominant muscles and muscle weaknesses. These are just inevitable side effects of day to day life. Unfortunately there is no guarantees against injury, but by making sure that your body remains strong and symmetrical will give yourself a much better chance of remaining injury free and performing at your best.

Ongoing plan – We can only do so much in the clinic. Even if you come and see us every week that is still only 1 hour a week that we can treat you. Consistently doing your home exercise program gives you the best chance of reducing your pain and improving your movement and performance. Everyone is different so there is no one size fits all approach, however, our general approach will be to make follow up appointments further apart as time goes on.
