Exercising in Isolation

These have certainly been unusual and uncertain times recently.  We have been living through a situation that no one expected or had planned for.  Although the impact of coronavirus has been large and wide spread and it has had serious and unfortunately deadly consequences for many, here in Australia the majority of people have been able to carry on with their lives albeit in a very different way than we are used to.

There has been many silver linings to the coronavirus pandemic. People have been able to slow down, we have been able to re-evaluate our lives and the things that we consider ‘essential’.  By far the greatest silver lining that I have seen as a health care practitioner has been the amount of people out exercising.  Maybe it’s just that people are doing it at different times of the day than they used to, maybe it is the fact that gyms and personal training sessions have been closed so there are more people out exercising in public. The fact that going out to exercise has been one of the reasons that we are allowed to leave our house, I think a lot of people have embraced it.  As I have been out driving or running I have definitely passed more people out walking, running and cycling.  The increase of home workout posts on social media suggests that more people are exercising at home, or maybe they are just wanting to connect with people in a different way.  Regardless, it has been fantastic to see so many people continuing or starting to exercise during isolation.

At Excelsior we are passionate about helping people move better, perform better and live pain free.  We have been able to re-open our doors to treat clients face to face in the past week so once again we can help you reach your exercise goals.  Particularly for those that have started exercising more during isolation, you may be experiencing some soreness or niggling pain.  You may also just want to make sure that you are moving and performing the best you can.   For those that are regular exercisers, having a regular check-up is important to maintain your health and performance.

As the hope of restrictions easing in the next couple of weeks grows it is important that we don’t stop the good habits that we have formed in isolation.  Regular exercise has a positive effect on health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally.

We can help you increase your movement, reduce your pain and perform better.  Whether you are exercising to stay fit or are looking forward to when you can compete again.  Come and see us and together we can make a plan to ensure you are performing at your best.  If you would like to book an appointment click here.  We are open and operating face to face consultations.

We have always operated under a strict infection control policy which can be found here.  During the coronavirus pandemic we have increased the frequency that we clean high touch surfaces. Due to the 4m2 social distancing rule we can only allow 3 people in our waiting room at one time.  We are also encouraging our clients to download the COVIDSafe app.  If you are experiencing symptoms of cold, flu or coronavirus we ask that you cancel your appointment and do not attend the clinic.
